Alvanley 125-9 (20 overs), CBH 118-8. Alvanley won by 7 runs
Chester's T20 hopes for 2017 came to an end as they slipped to defeat at Alvanley in the Joshua Holt Trophy.
With Chester and Alvanley both already accounting for Christleton and Barrow, this was a straight shoot out to see who would win the group and progress to the quarter final stage.
Alvanley won the toss and batting first this always looked destined to be a low scoring encounter, and so it was.
Ex-CBH Andy Benion went early but Mike Rowland (26) and 21 from both Mike Rowland and Simon Gee saw the home side manage what felt a below par 125-9. Will Owen took 3-18.
However, the Alvanley bowlers were inspired as Chester's batting fell short for the second time in three days.
Ollie Law commanded the innings with a fine 60, Will Owen was next highest with 16. And when Law was sixth out in the 19th over with 10 required, it was tall order and a level headed Billy Ouzounidis (3-25) kept his nerve to help seal a fine, deserved 7 run win for the hosts.
Alvanley CC - 1st XI won the toss and decided to bowl.
