The 1st XI begin their Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division campaign this Saturday against Neston.
This is a repeat of the 2014 opening day fixture, that day CBH won by 113 runs following Jordan Clark’s 88 and four wickets on debut for overseas player Joshua Henderson.
Following two strong pre-season performances against Elworth and Northern, Chester have a full strength team available with Warren Goodwin returning to the starting eleven following family commitments for the last two Saturdays. It promises to be a high scoring game with a dry forecast this week and quick outfield following Alex Kegg’s work over the winter. One man who will be looking to take advantage of this is Nick James who will be hoping to continue his strong start following his century and fifty in previous two innings.
Ross Dixon makes his competitive first team captaincy birth for the club with Will Owen deputising and 16 year old Tom Wyatt is set to take the gloves after an impressive 45 dismissals across all teams for the club in the 2016 season. Neston include former Chester paceman Ash Davies who departed the club over the winter.
The fixture is 55 overs per side and is set to start at 1230. This week’s match ball sponsor for the fixture is professional services firm Deloitte.
