CBH 199 (50.2 overs), Timperley 201-7 (56.1 overs). Timperley won by 3 wickets

Scorecard

Unbeaten Timperley remain clear at the top of the ECB Cheshire Premier Division after a tight win at Chester.

Chester, who'd lost their previous two league games won the toss and batted.

Debutant Jamie Crawley opened alongside Warren Goodwin and with Goodwin (4) and Moore (4) both going early, had little time to acqaint himself with his new team mates.

Yet the youngster settled quickly as he and Alex Money (37) steadied the ship with a fine 89 run partnership for the third wicket. Crawley eventually fell for 57 and a procession of wickets followed to a mixture of poor shots and tight bowling with Jack White taking 4-48.

A late flurry, including an unbeaten 31 from Andy Metcalf saw Chester reach a below par 199 and crucially give Timperley an extra four overs.

The visitor's reply got off to a flyer before Grant Hodnett (32) holed out to Will Owen with the score on 45. At 65-2 and Jack Williams and Robin Fisher turning the screws, Chester had their tails-up. This was a day for spinners and a tense period in the match as Brooke Guest (57) and Jamie Fisher (23) kept the pack at bay with a 47 run partnership to take the game away from Chester.

But late drama ensued with four more wickets and at 149-7, Chester edged ahead. Guest and Dave Howarth (36) though dug deep to see off the late challenge as they added 52 to get Timperley over the line in the 57th over. Williams ended with 4-62.

Next week Chester host Neston.
