Chester opener takes the reigns for the County, Danny Leech to lead three day challenge.

Chester's Rick Moore will captain Cheshire's one day side in 2018.

With an increasing number of fixtures in 2018 and the return of T20 cricket, Cheshire will have two captains leading the charge for the new season.

Seasoned campaigner, Danny Leach from Outlon Park will bring much experience to the three-day side as they look to build on last year’s second place in the Unicorns Western Division.

And Rick will take charge of the one day team which boasts a busy fixture list including a
round-robin T20 tournament and a revamped KO Trophy,

Rick has a rich pedigree in all forms of cricket with Cheshire and the Chester batsman is enthusiastic about the new challenge.

“Winning the T20 with Cheshire in 2015 was extra special,” he commented. “We did it in style and we’ve had to wait three years to defend our crown so we’ll be really up for it.
“I’m enjoying my time with Cheshire as much as ever and to be asked to lead our one day team feels a real privilege. There’s lots of cricket lined up and Danny and I have our work cut out pre-season to finalise our players and plans. We know each other well and it feels like an exciting opportunity to take things forward".

Cheshire start their T20 defence with two double headers - against Cumberland at Toft (6 May) and at Knypersley against Staffordshire the following day, Bank Holiday Monday. They’ll also play Northumberland at Marple and Lincolnshire at Bourne.

The KO Trophy reverts to straight knock-out this year with a match against Cumberland at Oxton on 20 May.

Three day games drop back in the calendar this year with the first scheduled against Shropshire at Shifnall from 24 June.

CBH will host a three day game in August against Berkshire and if the one day side win through their KO Trophy with Cumberland, will also host the quarter final.
