Latest from Mr T

Interesting and varied week.

On Tuesday we hosted the Chester Lions Club Curry and Quiz Night organised by the venerable Malcolm Smith months ago. A good time was had by all. A little odd then, that the Nomads organised a meeting for the same night. I do believe it was the Chairman who organised that meeting. Funny old world.

Weightwatchers were enormous on Thursday, biggest ever!

This was followed up by an NHS meeting that afternoon. Busy, busy, busy!

A quiet evening gave opportunity to set the room up for regularly one of the best nights of the year the next day.
The Chester & District Midweek Cricket League Presentation Evening is always fantastic. And yet, they keep reaching new heights. Geoff Miller was quite superb for 45 minutes of story telling from his playing days. Time for a drink, then we had another 45 minutes Q&A. In this section, Geoff was quizzed about his lengthy spell as the Chairman of the England Cricket Team. Very professional, never frivolous and yet incredibly honest. It's good to learn that the sport has been in capable hands. Thank you Geoff. And of course, thank you the Axons. Really slick production as ever. 142 punters all had a brilliant night. After Jeremy Coney last year we said, it would take some beating. Well, they just about did. Looking forward to next year already. You can't beat that! Am sure Netty and Alan will try.

Saturday morning was strangely quiet, with only one Junior match at The Club. Saturday was a much better day for the Senior section. The first team progressed in the Cheshire Cup. The 3rds lost by a single goal. The 4ths won 6-1 and the 5ths 2-1. The seconds lost in a decent game against Capenhurst. However, this marked the first match on the new pitch. It looked and played superbly. "Class" seemed to be the popular way to describe it. The Club has spent significant sums on producing this. The Club just keeps getting better. Just take a look at our facilities. Your continual support of our Club is being visibly rewarded. Take a bow folks!

At night we had Ceri Pimblott's family's pre Christening Get together. Great food (as ever), non stop self made entertainment, family, friends and even a couple of stray bunnies outside. Always different.

Sunday was quieter, but, there were still plenty enjoying the Carvery.

Later that night news came through of a victory for a member of our newest section, (the Pool Section,) as Jordan from our new Premier League sides BHCC X, only went and won the Chairman's Trophy. Believe it or not, our new side contains an England International. Chris Welsh will shortly be reporting on this week's clash with Ireland.

From strength to strength. Onward and upward!

It all goes on at The Club.

See you soon.

Mr. T.
