England well beaten

Phil's travels recently saw him take in some over 70s Ashes action with CBH friend Arthur Pritchard no less leading the Aussies. Phil takes up the story...

A very proud, happy and very, very tired Captain of Australia.

England beaten 3-0. A lot to be proud of for Arthur.

Aussie scored about 280. After ten overs it was obvious that there was only one winner.
Did the skipper relax and bring other people into the game. No chance. England completely and utterly smashed. Very Aussie. Very good. Well done Arthur.

Australia looked a very good team in the field.

All five bowlers bowled straight. Even when England were well behind the required rate the Aussie skipper put his mid on mid off back to long on/ long off and a sweeper on the offside boundary. England had nowhere to go.

Near the end Arthur hit the stumps with a direct throw. It looked very close. I really wished he'd been given out. Would love to have seen the DRS.

Happy day, but you could see it had been hard work.

Some of the English players were on a flight back to England after final dinner. Can't imagine how much they will hurt getting off the plane in 26 hrs time.
