'Rest' for Lee as he focuses on batting

I'm proud of how things have changed in the last five years...
- Lee Dixon, CBH 1st XI Skipper

CBH skipper Lee Dixon announced on Saturday night that he would be relinquishing the 1st XI captaincy next year.

Lee has been at the helm for five years and has had a tremendous impact across all areas of the Club.

His intense enthusiasm has boosted players, members and supporters alike as Lee has never given less than 100% on and off the field.

Club Captain, Chris Fleet presented Lee with the Ron Fleet Trophy - initiated in memory of Chris' late father to recognise outstanding levels of support at the Club.

Lee revealed that it was 'time to refocus, concentrate on his batting and ensure he continues to develop Cheshire CCC,' where he is also captain.

The rest is certainly deserved. Captaining the County and putting as much energy into CBH as he does, is extraordinary hard work.

Yet Lee has carried this off in his own, inimitable way.

Lee reminisced about when he joined CBH six years ago: "I told Chris Fleet, it was a huge Club," he said. "A huge Club with a big history. But I asked, 'what have you won?'

"For a side like Chester to have just won the league once and a T20 trophy wasn't good enough.

"I'm proud of how things have changed in the last five years. And who will ever forget that wonderful day in Northampton when we became National T20 Champions."

A word of reassurance for all: Lee isn't going anywhere. He'll be playing his cricket at Chester in 2017 and will continue to lead the County Club.

He steps down with thanks and best wishes from us all.
