Hyde 222-8, CBH 192. Hyde won by 32 runs

Scorecard

It's not to be for Chester as they fell to their first defeat in the Cheshire Cup for five years.

Their much delayed quarter final match at Werneth Low fell the way of the home side as Chester went down by 30 runs.

Hyde managed 222-8 from 45 overs, youngster Tom Partridge top scoring with 55, Dave Fitzsimmons and Danny Berry both making 34. The wickets were spread across the Chester attack.

Chester suffered an early blow as Warren Goodwin went for 5 and Rick Moore fell shortly after for the same score.

At 23-2 Nick James (38) and Alex Money (21) dug in to add a much needed 50 and there was some mid-order resistance as Lee Dixon hit 35.

At 125-5 the game was interestingly poised.

But wickets were falling regularly and whilst ok on overs, this was the downfall as despite 19 from Ash Davis, Ross Dixon (26) found himself high and dry at the end.

Jason Whittaker bowled a miserly 2-21 and Fitzsimmons managed 4-40 as Chester were confined to their first Cheshire Cup defeat since they lost to Timperley in 2011.
