Chester ultimately missed out on T20 triumph in a day of high drama at Hyde.

With the backdrop of the World Cup final, Chester's own final fell four runs short as they lost out to Toft.

Yet earlier, all seemed well after an outstanding display against Hyde as they rattled up 234-6.
It was a blistering opening display from Lloyd Aspin striking 3 sixes and 5 fours in 58 from 41 balls. More fireworks from Rick Moore with 83 from 46 balls (13 fours, 2 sixes) and Ollie Law 40 from 14 balls (6 sixes including five off successive balls). Alex Money weighed in with a quick-fire 20 to leave the hosts stunned.

Hyde's reply closed on 188-5 with James Duffy hitting 73 and Elliot Young 43. Warren Goodwin took 2-23.

Toft had humbled Nantwich in the first semi final and winning the toss and batting, managed what seemed a modest 147 all out, Goodwin taking 4-15 and Williams 2-35.

With Chester very much the favourites, Toft's game plan then kicked in. Aspin went off like a train again with 37 (4 sixes, 2 fours) and their was an expectation that Chester would cruise home at 45-2.

But wickets fell regularly and the pressure began to mount.

Rick Moore made 35 (3 fours) and Jamie Crawley 31 (4 fours) as Chester tried desperately to close the gap.

The eighteenth over was telling with 26 needed from 18 balls. Crawley went and only two runs came off the over.

24 needed from 12 balls and Andy Jackson removed Moore. 19 needed from the last over and hopes raised as Lee Dixon hit a four before being bowled by Tom Forster. Game over despite a six off the last ball from Williams.

A four run win for Toft that they savoured.

Despite the disappointment, it was a great day had by all with fabulous support from CBH and a bus trip that will go down in folklore (more another time!).

Well organised by Hyde too and we wish Toft all the best as they progress to the regional stages of the competition.
