Latest from Phil Thomas

Again, the early part of the week was quiet.

Again, it got much, much busier. Rachel leader/ stand up comedienne) was very understanding with her Weightwatchers, who used the changing rooms for their meeting.

Thank you folks. This was because the function room was being used by the lovely Redrup family for a funeral. Louise was an old friend, of our old friend Mike Apollonio, and spent time remembering good times, whilst sat on his bench. It was a very sweet moment on a very emotional day.

Again, Saturday was busy. Hundreds of folks every Saturday. Goal of the day this time was scored by our very own Harry Cain, just moments after he's hit the bar. (He'd never scored before.) Top drama!

The results were nothing short of disastrous. Fitness proved to be an issue as the 1st team went down in extra time to Tarporley Vic's. A much improved performance, but still a 1-2 defeat for the 2nds. Somewhat controversially the 4ths employed Waz as a sweeper at Ramblers. This was altered at halftime, but at 3-0 down it was too late. 3-1 the final score, which only showed what was possible. New ideas are always welcome and should be applauded. I don't think Player/ Coach Mitch will be repeating this formula. Lesson learned. We move on. The 5ths also went down, 5-1 , to a much younger Ramblers 2nd string. Things will only get better!

We all then enjoyed England's glorious victory over Malta. While people may not see it as ' so glory filled', we should appreciate that this was not just Malta, but also Gozo. Two countries. We beat them both. Come on England!

The room was then altered for Louise and Will's 40th birthday. Great food. Loads of Prosecco. And the sounds of the James Herriot Experience. Marvellous!

Sunday was brilliant. Great weather and Junior footie outside. A Burtenshaw family Christening inside, all enjoying the Carvery. Perfect. Other diners were accommodated, and then we had Mick and Judy Morrey saying their farewells to family and friends over the fantastic Carvery. We must have catered for nearly a hundred. Great, relaxed atmosphere all day. Great stuff. Thanks folks.

It all goes on at The Club.

See you soon.

Mr. T.
