Scorecard

A Lee Dixon century and seven wickets for leg spinner Jack Williams sealed a hard earned 120 run win over Timperley at Filkins Lane.

Timperley won the toss and put Chester into bat in overcast conditions that meant runs were hard to come by against the accuracy of Jack White and Chris Page.

Rick Moore went in the first over before Warren Goodwin (39) held sway, with Jack Williams adding 25.

White (3-58) was causing problems by the time Dixon joined the party at 62-3.

And after Ollie Law and Williams had departed, Dixon teamed up with brother Ross to for an 86 run partnership for the second week running and push Chester to what had looked like an unlikely 256-6.

Dixon's 111 ball ton was controlled and effective with 13 fours and two sixes.

Early indications from Timperley were good as the openers added 40 with little discomfort.

However, once Darren Leach broke through and had Dave Cooper caught behind, Chester moved up a gear.

Williams was the key on an uncharactoristic sticky home wicket. His 7-41 turned things round dramatically to bag the points for the home side and ensure Chester retain an outside chance of challenging for the league.

Next week sees a trip to Nantwich.
