An appreciation

Colin's father Reg played football for Chester Nomads and cricket for Chester Boughton Hall for forty years, Also representing Cheshire CCC.

Reg was involved in running both clubs throughout his life and it was no surprise that Colin stepped into his father's shoes and continued the family association.

Colin's 1st XI cricket debuts in 1950 and he played until 1980, taking over 1000 league and cup wickets. He was a useful tail end batsman and still holds the club record for the number of catches taken.

Colin captained the cricket club on three separate occasions and was present in the Cheshire Cup victories of 1973 and 1974.

Colin had a very dry sense of humour and it was always entertaining to field next to him in the slips.

He was present on a Saturday at Boughton Hall for 65 years and gave equal support to both football and cricket clubs.

Colin payed in goal for Chester Nomads and had a reputation as a solid and brave keeper. He made his final appearance on Christmas Day 1969.
