Chester crashed out of the Liverpool Echo KO Trophy being convincingly beaten by a strong Port Sunlight performance.

The hosts amassed 185-5 with Simon Melberzs hitting 59 and Ben McPherson, 41. Jack Williams was the pick of the Chester bowlers with 3-24.

Chester struggled with the rate from the off. Rick Moore made 25, Williams 23, Tom Wyatt 23 and Warren Goodwin 20.

There were accomplished performances from debutant Ben Spaven and from Reg Wyatt but Chester fell 56 runs short.
