Darkness and chips for Phil Thomas...

Plenty going on this week.

On Wednesday we hosted a funeral for a very close knit family. Fabulous food, a bit of drink and a wealth of stories.

On Thursday morning Rachel donned her cape and shiny red pants as she metamorphosed into Wonder Weightwatching Woman. Again to a seemingly ever expanding coterie.

The following day we held a surprise 70th birthday party for the lovely Diamond family. Mum had no idea.

To enhance the surprise we turned all the lights off as she approached. She believed she was attending a fundraiser for Junior Football. As the door to the room opened everybody began to sing "Happy Birthday" - which was a massive shock to Paul, who had come to make the chip butties. So we turned the lights off and waited again. This time a young lady who had come to pay a deposit on room hire was stunned. So, we whisked her away and turned the lights off again. Third time lucky. A now well rehearsed chorus of "Happy Birthday" chimed up and Mam was well and truly gobsmacked! Nice folks having a nice time and all backed by the versatile Alan Davis, part time DJ, full time Driving Instructor ( he taught Harry Killoran) and crooner! Fun!

Saturday, as usual was very busy. The first team won convincingly away at Maghull, in a manner that has left the manager with a great deal of food for thought. The 2nds drew 3-3 in an entertaining match in which young Michele Apollonio notched twice. Unfortunately, the 3rds went down again, it's tough for these lads at the moment. The 4ths and 5ths both completed victories, whilst the 6ths and Vets both enjoyed entertaining draws. There were a few in the evening for the Liverpool match, then the room was dressed again for the McMahon party. Tim and Sharon had a great night. Good food plus Chester's No. 1 DJ, Kenny Stewert!

Great food. Great fun!

Sunday was really chilled. Numbers for the Carvery just grew and grew as the afternoon progressed. Food, family and football. A winning combination. Unless of course you happened to be a Man U fan. Ho hum, there we go.

It all goes on at The Club.

See you soon.

Mr. T.
